Who We Are
Faith Lutheran Church — we are a community of people seeking to love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, and learning how to love others as we love ourselves. What draws us together is not our individual beliefs but our common desire to grow our connections with Jesus and the people in the communities where we live. We live out our mission, “changing lives through the power of Jesus,” as we help people connect to God and to the missions (opportunities) God has placed in our lives. We believe our lives are changed as people come to know who they are, whose they are, and who they will serve in Jesus’ name.
First, we are Christians. Second, we practice a 500-year-old tradition called Lutheranism. We believe faith, at its core is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace which then brings us life and forgiveness. In Jesus then, we are called to live out of this grace, bringing hope as we shine Jesus’ light and love into the lives of all we encounter. We recognize we are all broken people in need of grace and we believe we are called to walk together, each in our brokenness and wholeness, revealing God’s love as we go. We read and study the Bible to better understand God’s desires for us and the world and to grow in relationship with Jesus. Because our faith is alive and growing, we seek to constantly discover how to return that love through worship and service.
When you walk through the doors of Faith, you’ll be surrounded by people of all kinds — from college students and middle-aged adults to senior citizens, young families, and empty nesters. Some of us are conservative in our faith and politics and others are more liberal. Some of us dress up for church, while others wear shorts and flip flops. We live in Golden or drive in from Arvada, Evergreen, Lakewood, Superior, or beyond. We’re all different in our own ways, but we are the same in our desire to grow in relationship with Jesus and serve others.
To us, “community” also extends beyond the walls of our building. We are part of the whole body of Christ in Golden and the rest of the world. As part of the Golden Family of Churches, we work with other area churches to meet health needs in our town. We are also part of the Together Church of Golden, which collaborates in many ways including missions, worship, and prayer.
Becoming a Member
First and foremost, you do not have to be “a member”to participate in anything at Faith or benefit from our available resources. You are part of us from the very first day you connect with us. If you decide to commit to continued spiritual growth and our mission, then you can choose to become a member.
Membership starts by participating in a workshop that outlines who we are and why we are here, what it means to be a follower of Jesus, and what it looks like to live our mission in His name. Membership here is not so much about indoctrination or joining the club…it’s really about joining us on mission connecting more deeply with God and with others. Membership workshops are held once or twice a year and are listed on the calendar. Contact us for more information.
