Kent Stephens
I spent the first ten years of my life on a farm in southeastern Wyoming. From my parents I learned honesty and the importance of church and faith. I was raised in a Christian home and cannot remember a time in my life when I did not know who Jesus is and what He has done for me. When I was ten, we moved to Longmont, Colorado.
I thank God for influential people in my life including church members and leaders. Through high school and following I developed a thirst for Christian connection and a search for God’s call on my life. I eventually moved to California to complete a B.A. in community outreach at Concordia University Irvine.
At my first ministry location (campus ministry in Lincoln, NE) I met my wife who is truly a blessing. We have journeyed together for more than 29 years and have been blessed with three children, now grown (two are married) and doing well. I have served several congregations, all in community outreach, and adding leadership of worship music along the way.
My Gifts
I think my God given gifts include: gifts of encouragement and hospitality. I like to be alongside people in their daily walk, work and life. I enjoy sharing Bible truths with people in fun, informal and practical ways. Someone once said, “It’s a sin to make Bible study boring!” A final gift area is administration. I like to be involved with planning, organizing and implementing worthwhile projects, goals, and vital connections with people, to accomplish the mission that God sets before us.
My Mission
I feel called to share God’s love by living out my faith, and by resourcing the church to reach out to our community. Many of us know John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son…” The one that follows is, “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” God does not want to condemn. He wants to welcome all into relationship with Him through Christ!

How You Can Help Me
Being new at Faith, I need a lot of help! Help me to understand what makes Faith tick. What is our culture and what values do we hold? How do we represent God to our community? Share with me how the people of Faith care as well as what may be new opportunities and open doors to build caring relationships with people.
