Pat Maki-Palmer

My family moved to Golden in 1950. My mother, Agnes Maki (deceased) and I are charter members of Faith Lutheran. I am married to a wonderful man I met in high school. I have three sons from a previous marriage who have blessed me with 10 grandchildren (one of whom is deceased) and two great-grandchildren.

My maternal grandmother was a nurse and had a huge influence on me. I was very close to her. Her mother was a midwife and a masseuse. As a result of their impact, a passion to help others was born. I became a masseuse and also a medical assistant.

When I returned to Golden 17 years ago, I was anxious to once again become part of the church I had attended as a teenager. I heard a lot about the Health Ministries team at Faith and the projects they did — at Faith, in the community, and globally — and I wanted to be part of this group.

My Gifts

God has given me gifts of creativity, encouragement, compassion and teaching. I have a passion for health and wellness and especially encouraging seniors in that area. We still have a lot of life to live and lots to offer!

My Mission

I took on the project of recruiting supplies for and assembling Newborn and Hospice Kits, serving people in need through Global Health Ministries.

I have volunteered for the Healthy Fair in Golden several years. This year, I will work as the assistant volunteer coordinator at the Healthy Fair held in conjunction with the 9 News Health Fair. My role in 2014 will be the volunteer coordinator.

I have led Faithfully Fit (an exercise class that includes devotions and prayer) on Thursday evenings for the past four years, and recently started the Christian yoga group meeting on Wednesday mornings to help people become healthier.

As part of my mission to help people become healthier, I also help in planning, preparing and serving the meals at the monthly Senior Luncheon and various other events held at Faith.
