The most amazing thing about God’s love that we so often miss is that it’s not about a bunch of rules or stuff we have to have the “right” answer to. God’s love is different – it changes things. It brings hope in the middle of despair. It makes a way forward when it seems there’s a dead end. It brings life out of death. It walks out of the grave in power and life. It’s active. It risks. It…does. God’s love shows up and does. And this love isn’t a test you can memorize the answers to, or laws to not break. This love can’t be earned, bought or won. It’s better than that. It’s bigger than that. And you might discover its true depth not by studying it, but by living it!
Join us for the next few weeks as we not only discover this amazing love, for us, for others and for the world, but as we challenge ourselves to “do love”! You never know…it just might transform your life!

We wait with expectation! Yes! But what is it we wait for? Presents? Family gatherings and travel? The endless parties and gift buying? In truth…no. There is something that is so much more and so much closer to what our hearts wait for, and long for. It has been prophesied about, it has been promised…and we are waiting for it – the day the Jesus came and the day he’ll come again. The manger started it, but that’s just the beginning. Join us this season as we look with longing and expectation at this mysterious, amazing, incredible time of “now but not yet” we live in!

It’s one of the most well-known stories in the New Testament…the Prodigal Son. We hear the word prodigal and think of someone who’s run away, chosen bad ways of living, is wasting their life, turned their back on God. But the word prodigal (actually means “having or giving extravagantly”) could be applied to the father in the story!

The cross changed the way we look at God’s love for us. Not as something to be earned, but rather something freely given – even in the midst of pain and suffering. And that is a beautiful gift to be given. But the gift doesn’t stop with the cross…it goes on to the empty grave and that empty grave changes our lives! Our God conquered death and sin for us! Brokenness is redeemed and we are made new! How can that not change how we see ourselves and how we choose to live? Join us for the next 4 weeks as we look at the life we can have because of the empty grave!

Palm branches waved, people shouted and praised God…it sounded like they were ‘all in’ with this following Jesus thing…but the streets quickly cleared and before the week was out even Peter who had declared nothing would ever take him from Jesus’ side, denounces ever even knowing Jesus. Where do you find yourself this weekend? Do you want to be part of the crowd cheering Jesus on, from a distance? Or might you dare to go “all in’ and walk with Jesus all the way to the cross?

The Olympics are in full swing now. It’s exciting to watch these athletes do what some of us only dream of and what some of us never imagine! They are amazing to watch, but none of them just showed up in South Korea and said, ‘I think I’ll compete!’ No, there are lots of hours of practice, sweat and even some tears. But the end result is amazing!
As followers of Jesus, we are called to walk with him, deepening our relationship with him. But that doesn’t happen by itself. It actually takes our commitment to doing things which open our souls up to Jesus and his love and grace. It takes practice, some sweat and maybe even some tears! But the end result can be an amazing, growing faith and trust in our God.
Come join us over the next few weeks as we discover the ways we are built to engage with Jesus at a soul’s level. Join with others as we discover perhaps new ways, or ways you’ve never thought of to engage your heart with the One who created you! Join in Cross Training and uncover the joy in the journey with others!

Ever wonder what the book of Revelation is all about? Is it really foretelling what’s going to happen at the end of time? Are there really going to be horsemen riding through the sky? And dragons and beasts with multiple heads and lots of horns? All that makes Revelation seem strange and unknowable. But in the midst of the weird pictures and language there is a beautiful message from God filled with hope. Come join us, as over the next few weeks, we reveal one of the most misunderstood books of scripture!

Join us this Advent and hear the words of prophetic visions of light, healing, shalom and hope written hundreds of years before Jesus was born! Sometimes I think, what will people say of me
When I’m only just a memory
When I’m home where my soul belongs
Was I love, when no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of those
Was my worship more than just a song
I wanna live like that…

500 years ago a monk decided to take a stand against the mighty church because in his heart he knew things needed to change. Convicted by scripture, and led by the Spirit, Martin Luther stood up, spoke out, and in the process awakened people to a whole new understanding of who God is and how God loves. It wasn’t easy…excommunicated and considered a heretic, his life was often in peril. But he stood strong and the world changed. Because he took the risk, following Jesus’ heart and his…we are here today. Over the next few weeks we are going to look at what Luther stood for…and where we still stand today…not like standing still…but standing up, speaking out – for the call to reform ourselves and our world is still on today!

Faced with uphill battles and times they were brought to their knees, the people of Pixar kept believing their way of story was worth the sacrificing. We as followers of Jesus have a story to tell that is different from the worlds’ version of our stories. It is beautiful and insightful and life changing. But how do we tell it? How do we know it? Join us for the next few weeks as we let Pixar movies help us see the beautiful identity and story that is ours in Jesus!

Most people love a good road trip. Or an adventure trip to somewhere new and exciting. Get the maps out, pull up the travel websites and away we go! While travel in biblical times wasn’t anywhere near as easy, people still traveled – and one who traveled a lot was the Apostle Paul. Starting churches all over the ancient world, Paul spent his years traveling from one place to another and while on the road, keeping in touch with the churches he had started. These “postcards” are now a part of the Bible and God’s word for us today as well. So join us this summer, come journey with Paul and get a glimpse at the postcards he wrote along the way!

Fire – the flames dance in and out and we are mesmerized. As the colors exchange places, weaving in and out of each other they dance around, seemingly above and around but never settling. The flames shoot high and sparks skip skyward. In, out, around – never stopping. The dance can seem to be all but done, yet, with one breath of air, one bit of encouragement, what seems dead, done or gone can be brought back to life – and the dance continues. Come this weekend and experience the power and life giving dance of the Holy Spirit…come and let your heart join in the call to dance in the Spirit’s fire, instead of simply watching from afar! It might just change your life!

God helps those who help themselves. Money is the root of all evil. God will never give you more than you can handle. When you die you become an angel. Does the Bible really say all these things? Many people think so…but over the next few weeks we are going to take a look at what the Bible really says! Come find out which are true and which are twisted scripture!

How are you? We often ask the question and just as often forget to really listen for the answer. The expected answer is “fine,” or “great!” and we go on thinking everything is well, great. And it might look like it on the outside. But how about our souls? No matter who we are or how long we’ve been navigating life, there are going to be times when our souls find themselves in less than OK places. What happens then? We will flail about, questioning, doubting, wondering. How will we respond? Will we hold onto the One who holds onto us? Journey with us as we take a look at how we get to the place where we can say no matter what, it is well with my soul.

But these books are filled with insights into God’s character and God’s desires for his people – not only thousands of years ago, but for today. So, come join us as we spend a season in the minors!

Foundations – we don’t think much about them, but they do incredible work! One type holds things up and the other type leaves a legacy of ongoing support. As a follower of Jesus, both foundations are an important part of how we live with all we’ve been given. Our base for our lives needs to be deeply set in the ways of Jesus so the legacy we leave with our lives is one that supports and furthers the Kingdom of God. But how do we do this? In the coming weeks we’re going to take a look at the foundations of our lives and look with excitement how they can do more than we ever dreamed!

One little IF can change anything. IF is the hinge on the door of possibilities. Some are stuck in “if only” – living lives of regret. But God has the power to turn that “If only” into “what if” – an attitude of faith with holy confidence. The greatest IF in the Bible is perhaps the one found in Romans 8: IF God is for us who can be against us? One little IF changes everything!
Join us in the coming weeks as we look to see where we’re living “If only” lives and how we might change them into “what if” lives. The God of creation is here with us, and who knows what can happen, IF we embrace the IF of God! Come check it out and find out!
One little word that can change everything!

Go for the Gold is a series about running the race of faith with perseverance. August 5th marks the opening of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil. The Olympics always bring images of athletes standing on the podium, emotionally clutching a gold medal as their national anthem is played. It is an image which brings home the honor, the pride, the hard work and all the effort which it took to get to that place. This series will help us see our own lives in Jesus as something worth running with honor. Training, running, sometimes stumbling … but all the time striving for the best relationship with Jesus. And why? Because even as great as an Olympic gold medal is, we know the “gold” of life with Jesus is far greater!

Parties have the tendency to get a bad rap. In today’s world, parties are often associated with out of control, wild behavior that has everyone shaking their heads when it’s over. But wait! That’s exactly what happened – a lot – when Jesus showed up! He was known for his out of control behavior (according to the world’s standards at that time), wildly showing up in places with people others wouldn’t, and doing things that had people shaking their heads — either in amazement or anger. Maybe then, when Jesus showed up, the party began … and might it be possible the party could continue into our lives? Join us for the next few weeks and see! It’s party time!

Too often we say we want to follow Jesus, we want to deepen our relationship with him, yet in reality what we really want is for Jesus to fit into our lives, in our ways, in our time. This Lent season we are going to ponder anew what it might be like to surrender ourselves to Jesus. Fully. Openly. Wholly. To get to the end of ourselves so we might find true life with Jesus. It’s going to be interesting. It’s going to take our whole hearts … but we will discover the upside down ways of Jesus actually bring true life!

Isn’t it amazing that the Creator of the Universe, the Savior who loves so deeply he came to be with us and has made it possible to be with him forever … this is the same God who walks with us in our daily lives and is generous to overflowing with us?! I mean, this is the God who provides for us, who has gifted us with all we are and all we have. This is the God rooting for us, the God who is on our side! And yet … we live in fear. Fear we won’t have enough, fear we’ll lose what we have, fear we’ll get hurt or die, fear someone else will have more than we do … fear, fear, fear. Our society is based and functions off fear. So, what could it feel like, be like, to live fearlessly trusting in the One who is with us? This is what we are going to explore: what life could be like if we chose to believe the text from Ephesians that says our God is able to do more than we can possibly imagine – with us and through us. Ready for some excitement? Ready to let go of fear? Let’s do it together and see what God does!

Arise! He is not here! He has risen! Death has not won! That was the news of that first Easter morning, but the impact of that news is no less today. As Jesus rose to new life, so do we. That is the good news of the today’s story – there is life, new life for us today as well! The promise that holds for us is transforming. And so for the next few weeks we will be looking at this new life in Jesus and what it can mean for us today. The call today is for us too: Arise! In Jesus we have risen! Death does not win in our lives either!

It is easy enough to say Jesus died for us. But to stop and let it seep into our souls that Jesus died for us … for us … this we don’t do very often. We don’t stop to think about the why or what it took. We don’t like to think about the pain and suffering or the sacrifice. But to understand the gift of Easter, we need to understand the gift given for us during this week from Palm Sunday through Good Friday. So, the invitation is to dare to walk this week with Jesus and to live for the first time or anew into the love of God for us.

As we encounter people and brokenness and joy and celebration, we are called to the inward journey. There we seek God’s presence, God’s voice speaking into our lives which then sends us out into the world. And the cycle continues. This Lenten season we are going to focus our hearts on places and rhythms of the inward journey where we can seek God’s presence and voice. In the process we’ll experience a deeper connection with God as we discover what it means to really dwell with God not just on Sundays for an hour, but every day all lifelong.

We all have “those moments” – moments we wish never happened, moments we wish would never come, moments that seem to never end, moments we wish would never end. Taken one by one they can seem unrelated, yet our God takes all those moments and intertwines them into our lives with him. Journey with us as we take a look at how God works in and through some of the moments of our lives.

All I Want for Christmas is … craziness! Well, maybe not really, but that’s so often what we create. A calendar filled with parties and outings, baking cookies, mailing Christmas cards, getting the “perfect” gift for … well everyone!! It’s the “most wonderful time of the year,” right? Yet, when it’s over, we’re tired, wrung out, depressed and just glad it’s all over.
What is it we’re really searching for in the midst of all that craziness? And, what if what we truly long for this season can’t be found in busyness, but rather in a little holy breathing space? Come join us as we take time to stop and let our souls breathe in the presence of God. Because after all … maybe that’s all we really want.

Matthew 5:14-16 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
We are loved by God SO deeply and he graces us with not only life and his presence, but we are also gifted – with time, talents, resources and more. So often when we look at what we have, we forget that we are called to use what we’ve been given to “shine like stars in the night” for the sake of the Kingdom. So, first we are going to remind ourselves of the depth of God’s love for us and then we’re going to look at how we take what we’ve been given, and SHINE!

What could happen if we actually read the Bible together? Not a verse here or there, but the whole New Testament? And what if we had real conversations about the Bible, those anyone could join? This fall, that is exactly what we’re going to do! We’re going to read God’s Great Story in the New Testament, we’re going to talk to each other about what we read and together we’re going to discover anew the truths that our stories are also God’s story! More resources for reading together are available online, including an MP3 and a kid’s audio version. An e-book is available depending on the mobile device you are using. Daily reading assignments for the week can be found in the “notes” below.

Heroes…we like to hear about them because they seem extraordinary. Life is a series of changes, and these changes are inevitable. Some changes are anticipated, others sneak up on us. Some are big and others we barely realize are happening. Navigating through these changes is what we call a time of transition. FAITH as a community is in a season of change, and we want to tend to the transition in healthy, Spirit-led ways. Part of doing this is looking to scripture – a story of change – and letting it guide us into thriving and embracing this time, seeing what God might be holding next for us.

It is one of the world’s best known stories. Even people who have rarely stepped foot in a church know about Mary and Joseph, the angels and shepherds, wise men and a baby. The scene has been represented by the greatest artists who ever lived and turned into lawn ornaments sold at the local home improvement store. We know the story.
But do we really? During the weeks of Advent, we will take a look at the events of Christmas with fresh eyes and open hearts. What really happened? What was it like? What does it tell us about God? And what can it mean for our lives today? Come and join the Journey to CHRISTmas!
